UNP will demonstrate its strength on May Day - Ravi K.

Colombo district leader of the United National Party (UNP) Ravi Karunanayake said that in conjunction with the UNP’s May Day celebrations this year, a strong opinion will be created that President Ranil Wickremesinghe should be the next President of Sri Lanka again.

He said that the UNP will celebrate May Day this year in a grand manner, reflecting the peaceful atmosphere and economic stability of the country.

Karunanayake said this at the press conference held yesterday (30) at his office in Colombo.

He stated that as the party loved by the people, the UNP will proudly celebrate May Day in Colombo today (01) under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He added that a huge number of people will participate in the May Day celebrations today, representing the entire country, including the North and East.

This rally will start the process of taking the party in a new direction to lead the country.

He emphasised that President Wickremesinghe can provide the national leadership that the people are looking for and rallying the people for that is another objective of this May Day.

“The UNP is demonstrating its strength today on May Day. People who love the party from all directions are coming to Colombo today. Our party has started a new journey today with a mature leadership, seniority and a new youth group,” he said.

“The leader of our party accepted the challenge to rebuild the country which had collapsed two years ago. The leader who accepted the challenge has brought the country to some stability today. President Wickremesinghe will win the upcoming Presidential Election as a non-partisan candidate with a huge mandate. After that, a General Election will be held. We have great confidence that we can win it,” Karunanayake said.

“Therefore, May Day this year is a unique opportunity to embark on a victorious journey and forget all race, religion and caste differences and succeed in the task of building the Sri Lankan nation,” he added.
